Lewes Priory Appoints Simon Allan
as 2008 Overseas Player

Lewes Priory Cricket Club, and its main sponsor Care Home Insurance Services, are delighted to announce the signing of 26-year-old Australian Simon Allan as the club’s overseas player for the 2008 season.

Simon is a right arm fast-medium bowler who currently plays for the Ballarat Redan Cricket Club in the Ballarat Cricket Association in Victoria. He regularly takes the new ball for his club, and has won the EJ Cleary Medal for the most valuable player in the league in 2007. He has also being selected to be part of the Ballarat representative XI for the Melbourne Country Week Championships.

Simon, who will be joining his new Priory team mates in mid-April, said: ‘It has been a lifelong goal of mine to experience cricket in the UK, and I am stoked to hear that Lewes Priory are keen for my services. I cannot wait until April!’

Recommended to the club by another of its new signings, opening batsman Ed McGregor, Simon will spearhead the Priory attack, as the club looks to bounce back from last year’s relegation. He is also Ballarat Redan’s bowling mentor, and Priory hopes that his experience will serve to bring through bowling talent at all levels of the club.
